How To Make A DIY Face Mask For Every Skin Concern

A spa-quality DIY face mask is just one grocery trip away.

Now don’t get me wrong, your girl loves a good day at the spa getting a facial, pampering, and sippin’ on some cucumber water. However, that sadly is not allotted of my current monthly budget. So, being the thrifty millennial I am, I’ve found some amazing beauty bloggers each with their own tried and true DIY face mask for any skin condition! Best of all, the ingredients are probably already in your kitchen or only one grocery trip away.

DIY Face Mask for Acne-Prone Skin

Wasn’t this supposed to end after graduating high school?! Lots of things in our adult lives can cause acne: work stress, diet, exercise, genetics, or a combination of all these things! Keeping your skin clean and pores unclogged is critical, and this DIY face mask by Farah Dhukai is exactly what you need to annihilate acne.

This DIY face mask contains calcium bentonite clay, which is key for pulling out impurities and excess sodium, and it helps with blood circulation. This product is probably not already in your home, but can be found at a local health store, The Vitamin Shoppe, or on Amazon.

The other ingredient, apple cider vinegar, helps reduce acne, restore your skin’s pH levels, and battle wrinkles. Simply mix two tablespoons of each ingredient into a plastic or ceramic bowl with a plastic utensil (metal conflicts with the clay’s elements)until creamy, immediately apply a thick layer to your face, let it dry completely, rinse off with water and voila! Baby soft clearer skin!

Ingredients

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp calcium bentonite clay

DIY Face Mask For Blackheads

One of the grossest but most satisfying pleasures in the world is seeing blackheads removed from your skin. The process of extracting dirt from your pores is typically less than glamorous but oh how sweet the rewards are when your clean, poreless skin is revealed.

Beauty blogger Alexandra Potora swears by her DIY face mask to remove her blackheads. It contains a killer combination of bentonite clay, activated charcoal (found at your local CVS or vitamin aisle at the grocery store), apple cider vinegar, and tea tree oil (get it at Target or Walgreens) to kill bacteria, disinfect pores and dry out blackheads.

Simply mix the ingredients together in a bowl until a paste like mixture is formed (add in more activated charcoal if necessary). Immediately apply paste mixture to your problem areas, leave on for 10 minutes, remove it with a washcloth, and revel in your flawless complexion.

Ingredients

1 tbsp bentonite clay
2 capsules activated charcoal
1-2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
3-4 drops tea tree oil

DIY Face Mask For Oily Skin

Ridding your skin of excess oil but maintaining a hydrated healthy glow can be a taxing balancing act. It’s all about finding ingredients that will soak up excess oil without stripping your skin completely of it, causing dry skin issues instead.

That’s why I’m obsessed with this incredibly simple DIY face mask from beauty blogger Farah Dhukai, created with just egg whites and sugar. The egg whites are a natural astringent that take away the excess oil in your skin while tightening and minimizing pores. The sugar is a natural exfoliant and assists with cell turnover, keeping your face looking fresh.

Mix the two ingredients in a ceramic or metal bowl (plastic will not allow the mixture to foam) until a white, thick, bubbly foam appears, apply to your entire face with a brush, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water to reveal your newly tightened face and pores!

Ingredients

1 egg to separate or egg whites
1 tbsp sugar

DIY Face Mask For Dry Skin

Say you’re coping with the opposite of oily skin and instead have naturally dry skin or temporarily dry skin due to harsh, chemical astringents. Never fear, loves!

There’s a DIY face mask for your dry skin condition! Put down the expensive face creams, walk out of the beauty aisle, and head to the grocery aisle for some turmeric, aloe vera, and honey. These natural ingredients help rejuvenate tired skin, pack in moisture, reduce inflammation, and promote a healthy glow.

Beauty blogger Beauty By Mathu mixes aloe vera, honey, and turmeric in a bowl until blended, applies to her face, and lets it sit for 20 minutes. She then washes the face mask off with water and towel dries to reveal hydrated skin!

Ingredients

2 tbsp aloe vera
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp turmeric

DIY Face Mask For Sensitive Skin

If you have sensitive skin, you’re understandably nervous when trying new products because of the extreme reactions your delicate skin can have to chemicals. A DIY face mask of all natural ingredients may be your safest bet to soothing salvation.

Huda Beauty uses tried and true natural ingredients of turmeric, honey, yogurt, and lemon juice to reduce her skin’s inflammation and redness, and the extra kick of lemon juice gets bonus points for helping with reducing dark circles with it’s lightening properties.

To get these kind of results simply mix well all the ingredients together in a bowl until they form a firm paste (add more yogurt to help thicken if needed). Immediately apply all over face evenly, let mask dry for 20 minutes, then wash off with cool water, gently dry your face, and say hello to soothed skin!

Ingredients

1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp organic honey
1 tsp natural yogurt
1 tsp lemon juice
